wake but i have a few friends that wake and they loved kite boarding…said it was more difficult….

i need to know what protective gear is used in windsurfing thnx

A life vest is recommended (and in many places required by state laws). Booties is a good idea for most places to protect your feet while walking or in rocky or dirty bottoms. In sandy places barefoot is fine.

The rest really depends on your level and preference. If you sail in high winds or make jumps you may want a helmet, but I suspect you are not at that level yet. Gloves are optional, most people do not like to use them.
Neoprene wetsuit when in cold water or cold weather to prevent hypothermia.

You would use a harness also but that is not considered a safety device.

Another safety advise if you venture in isolated places is to carry a small piece of cord (I carry it in my harness) just in case you break something, it may become vey usefull.

Then there are other devices called mast protectors and boom protectors (padded devices) but they are mainly used to protect the board rather than yourself and most people do not use them.

Prism Snapshot 2.5 Kite

Prism Snapshot 2.5 Kite

The affordable new Prism Snapshot 2.5 Kite fits radical aerial thrills in your pocket, your briefcase, or the glove box of your car. Exceptionally fast and hard-pulling for their size, it will keep you on your toes when the wind picks up. Unlike most parafoils, the Snapshot sports a tight, responsive turn response that feels like driving a finely tuned sports car as compared to a truck; it just feels good carving up the sky. Smaller than the foils you’d use for buggying or kiteboarding, this wing is the ideal intro to power kiting and dual-line control. It’s great for learning the basics because there’s nothing to break when you crash, but you’ll bring yours everywhere once you get the hang of it because its just so much fun. Carefully shaped inlets keep the wing from collapsing in gusty wind, a constant problem with lesser designs, and the elliptical planform with a new airfoil profile minimizes drag for awesome speed and acceleration. Complete with Spectra lines already attached, flight straps, winder, and tail, the Snapshot will make a wind junkie out of you on your first breezy day. Fly Safe! Power kites can easily pull you off your feet in a breeze and the larger sizes could cause serious injury if mishandled. Flying safely is your responsibility, so use common sense when you fly and read all instruction manuals carefully before your first flight. Do not fly near power lines, roads, vehicles, other people, or storms. If you’re a beginner, be sure you can safely control your kite in light winds before attempting to fly in stronger winds. Not for children under 13.
